Have you ever had an idea or project in mind, but just can't seem to get started? It's a common problem that many of us face. Sometimes, we get caught up in the planning phase and end up overthinking everything – which leads to us not making any progress.
But here's the thing – getting started is often the hardest part of any task. Once you take that first step, it becomes a lot easier to keep going. Even small steps can add up and lead to progress over time. Plus, when you take action, you learn and adjust as you go, which is way better than trying to plan for every possible scenario ahead of time.
I know it can be daunting to start something without having everything figured out, but trust me, it's okay to just dive in and see what happens. You may make mistakes or encounter obstacles, but these setbacks are not failures – they're opportunities to learn and grow.
Commitment and practice are also key factors in getting started. When you commit to a task or goal, you're more likely to follow through and stay motivated. And the more you practice something, the better you become at it. You may not be the best in the world at first, but with persistence, you can improve and become more skilled.
So, if you're struggling to get started on something, remember – just do something, anything, and see where it takes you. You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. Take that first step and build momentum from there. Who knows? You might surprise yourself with what you're capable of.
This is the intro/first chapter from my new book Zero Dollar Consulting: How to Start Your Own Consulting Business with Little or No Money.
I wrote this book for anyone thinking they want a side business sharing their expertise and getting paid for it, for anyone thinking of adding consulting to their offering, and for anyone wanting to quit their corporate job and do their own thing.
I left my corporate job for the first time back in 2010. I've successfully bounced back into corporate 3 times since then, and I've kept my consulting business open the entire.time. I've made more mistakes than I can count, and I sure as heck didn't start at the perfect time, as the popular blog I was writing for (and getting business from) was killed less than 90 days after I left my job - and my only consulting client had a complete leadership change less than 60 days after I quit.
This book was written based on the blood, sweat and tears I poured into - and continue to pour into my business. It's my favorite no cost tools, plus all my favorite tactics and techniques I used to grow my business to a consistent six figure revenue stream for much of the last 12 years, all packaged together into one very easy to digest book.
Zero Dollar Consultancy is available in paperback or Kindle, and from now until June 19th, both versions are on sale on Amazon for less than $10, with the Kindle version being just $.99.
If you are worried about getting started, use this book as your guide. If you're already started, and you're looking for a boost, this book will give you a lift. Debbie Call shared in her Amazon review: "The book is refreshing for its lack of BS." Lois Creamer shared "This book is your blueprint to take your expertise to market!" Stephen Shapiro shared: "There are so many brilliant suggestions for anyone who is on a limited budget - or someone who wants to make wise investments that will yield a high ROI."
So what are you waiting for? Take the imperfection action and get yourself a copy of Zero Dollar Consultancy. You'll thank me for it later.
